OVERVIEW: Sprout Kitchen is an immersive food experience for kids. Experiences vary depending on the specific program. Working behind the scenes at a local restaurant. Bake seasonal cookies and pies. Pick fresh strawberries and make homemade jam.
For this program, we are working with a local pizzeria: Sauced Wood-fired Pizza in Fairview Park. We will learn all about brick oven pizza making from the owners of Sauced, who learned directly from their experiences in Italy. We will also learn all about running a pizzeria: taking orders, bussing tables and, of course, preparing and cooking the food! Yes, we also eat delicious pizza…
DAY ONE - “The Basics”: The owners of Sauced will teach us how to make pizza in their awesome wood-fire oven. We discuss serving, bussing, preparing and cooking food, writing a bill, and general customer interaction. Students will literally go "behind the counter" to prepare and cook their own personal pizza, and then eat it for lunch!
DAY TWO - “A Dining Event”: Students are the hosts: taking the orders, preparing the food, and serving their guests. Each student gets to invite two guests to enjoy a special meal including a large pizza, an appetizer, and a small salad, all prepared and served by YOU, and all included in the program costs.
