OVERVIEW: Elephant conservation, Thai culture, Asian language, Education. Work with Thai students to practice English through music. Participants and Thai students will work together to write original music in multiple languages! Help take care of elephants at an elephant nursery in the mountains. Visit ancient Thai sites and temples. Swim and snorkel at an amazing Thai beach. Shop at a night street market. This amazing program has so much to offer!

ELIGIBILITY: Those who will complete 8th grade by trip departure
TUITION: $6,950 (All inclusive)
TUITION INCLUDES: international airfare from CLE, transfers, taxes and fees, accommodations, meals, transportation, conservation program fees, elephant center fees, tips, guides, drivers, vehicles, staff, and all trip activities.
ADDITIONAL COSTS: Required trip insurance (about $100), souvenirs & personal items, food at airports, and any needed medicines or vaccinations (consult your doctor).

Day 2 | BANKOK
Arrive into Bangkok
Check into airport hotel.
Day 3 | CHIANG MAI
Morning flight out of Bangkok to Chiang Mai
City tour with stops at temples
Thai cooking course
Day 4 | ELEPHANT NURSERY
Go off-grid at a solar-powered conservation facility in the mountains, nestled on the banks of a lush, plant-lined tropical river. Wake up to the trumpets of mother elephants. Your contribution at the nursery makes it possible for their calves to grow safely while nursing for the first two years of their lives.
Day 5 | ELEPHANT NURSERY
Get up early to bathe a 200-pound bundle of joy. Harvest grass shoulder-to-shoulder with a machete-wielding “mahout” (a person who takes care of elephants). It’s not always glamorous, but serving at the elephant nursery in Chiang Mai is a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
Day 6 | CHIANG MAI
Depart from the Elephant Nursery after lunch and drive to Chiang Mai. Explore the Chiang Mai Street Market.
Day 7 | CHIANG MAI
Sit down and have a conversation with Thai monks. Visit Doi Suthep Temple and the hill tribe village of Doi Pui.
Day 8 | KOH SAMET
Fly from Chiang Mai to Bangkok, and then drive to Koh Samet.
Day 9 | KOH SAMET
A day at the beach. Swimming, snorkeling and sun!
Day 10 | BANKOK
Take a boat back to mainland Thailand. Drive from the coast to Bangkok. Visit Wat Bavornivet
Day 11 | BANKOK
Introduction to teaching and working with Thai students.
Initial visit meet the students and see the school. Visit the Jim Thompson House and explore the central business district of Bangkok.
Day 12 | BANKOK

Day 13 | BANKOK
Work together to prepare for the music creation and English language sessions to be held at a Thai school.
After lunch, visit the Chatuchak weekend market.
Day 14 | BANKOK
Create original music with students at a local Thai school to help them with English language development. After school, visit the Ayuthaya Historic Park.
Day 15 | BANKOK
Create original music with students at a local Thai school to help them with English language development. After school, take part in an exchange program with high school students at another Thai school.
Day 16 | BANKOK
Create original music with students at a local Thai school to help them with English language development. After school, enjoy an evening farewell dinner.
Day 17 | Depart
Depart Thailand for home!
Day 18 | Arrive in CLE
Arrive in Cleveland. Begin telling your stories!
